West holds off East for 5-4 Victory

The West Division All Stars took the East Division All Stars by a 5-4 margin in the mid-season classic.

Game Highlights:
Bartollo Colon (starting pitcher for the East) pitched three scoreless innings, followed up by two more combined scoreless innings tossed in by Jose Lima, Donnie Wall, Rick Aguilera and Billy Wagner.
The West Division finally opened the scoring in the top of the 6th when pinch hitter Edgardo Alfonzo laced a two out triple off of Dustin Hermanson (the 6th hurler for the East), who had walked Roberto Alomar and Jeff Bagwell earlier in the inning.  Barry Larkin followed with a single, plating Alfonzo for a 3-0 West lead.
Pedro Martinez started for the West, and with relief help from Randy Johnson, Sean Lowe, Mariano Rivera and John Rocker held the East line up scoreless through 6.  In the bottom of the 7th inning, Vlad Guerrero slammed a two out bases empty Rocker fastball into the left field stands to cut the West lead to 3-1.
The West added two runs in the 8th, when Barry Larkin drove in Roberto Alomar and Ivan Rodriguez with another two out hit.
Keith Foulke entered the game in the bottom of the 8th, with one out and a man on.  After retiring Bernie Willimas on a flyb(x) to Brian Giles, Foulke surrendered a two-run home run to Mark McGwire. Foulke stayed in and retired the East 1-2-3 in the ninth for the save.

Mariano Rivera picked up the win, with Hermanson taking the loss.
Alfonzo and Larkin were voted co-MVP's.
